Epidermoid cysts (sebaceous cysts)
Introduction
Slow-growing and often painless, epidermoid cysts are small bumps that develop just beneath the skin on your face, neck, trunk and sometimes your genital area.

Cyst, Epidermoid (Sebaceous Cyst)
Epidermoid cysts, sometimes known as sebaceous cysts, contain a soft "cheesy" material composed of keratin, a protein component of skin, hair, and nails.

Skin - Also called sebaceous cysts, they appear as flesh-colored or whitish-yellow lumps underneath the skin. They form inside glands that secrete an oily substance called sebum.

Benign otic tumors: Sebaceous cysts, osteomas, and keloids may arise in and occlude the ear canal, causing retention of cerumen and conductive hearing loss. Excision is the treatment of choice for all benign otic tumors.

A blocked gland can result in a sebaceous cyst, which fills with sebum and can become infected. Sebaceous cysts usually require no treatment, but they may have to be removed through surgery if they become particularly large or painful.

A sebaceous cyst occurs deep in the skin and is filled with sebum that is grayish, cheesy and foul smelling. Sebaceous cysts are common on the face, neck, and trunk.

Sebaceous cysts of the skin, known as blackheads or whiteheads, occur when dirt or other material blocks the oil glands of the skin, preventing secretions from escaping.
