Skin abscess is also known as boil disease. It is infected in the skin and filled by pus. It is caused by collection of pus in the skin.
They affect men and women equally. It is infected by staphylococcus bacteria.

Skin abscesses, commonly referred to as boils, are a deep infection in the skin. There are four basic forms of skin abscesses: furuncle, cystic acne, hidradenitis suppurativa, and pilonidal cyst.

Risk factors for skin abscesses include the following:
recent surgery
diabetes
recent chickenpox infection
immunodeficiency disorder, in which the body's infection-fighting mechanisms are impaired.

Boils - Learn about boils (skin abscess), localized infections deep within the skin that begins as a reddened, sore area. Eventually, the area hardens and fills with pus.

This may involve drainage by needle and syringe to remove the pus from a skin abscess (called "aspiration"). The area would be numbed prior to the aspiration procedure.
