Gout is a systemic disease caused by the buildup of uric acid crystals in the joints of the body, causing inflammation, swelling and pain.

Systemic disease
Systemic disease is a disease that affects the whole body. Leukaemias and lymphomas are systemic diseases because the blood system and the lymphatic system are all over the body.

Systemic diseases causing secondary glomerulonephritis:
Immunologic diseases - Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Polyarteritis, Wegener's granulomatosis, Mixed connective tissue disease, Henoch-Schonlein purpura.

Systemic diseases. Diabetes and lupus can affect many parts of the body, including the kidneys in some people. In lupus, the immune system becomes overactive and attacks the body's own tissues.

Systemic disease: In breast cancer, this term means that the tumor that originated in the breast has spread to distant sites, such as the liver, brain, bones, or lungs.

Treatment for systemic disease is palliative in intent. Goals of treatment include improving quality of life and prolongation of life.

Systemic diseases: In systemic disease, itching may occur with or without skin lesions. However, when itching is prominent without any identifiable skin lesions, systemic disease and drugs should be considered more strongly.

Systemic diseases frequently require more complex treatments.
What is the prognosis?
In acute neuropathies, such as Guillain-Barré syndrome, symptoms appear suddenly, progress rapidly, and resolve slowly as damaged nerves heal.

Systemic diseases often affect hair growth either selectively or by altering the skin of the scalp. One example is thyroid disorders. Hyperthyroidism (too much thyroid hormone) causes hair to become thin and fine.

Systemic disease (sepsis) can develop in untreated cases of trench mouth. The prognosis for these infections depends on the nature and severity of the infections at the beginning of treatment.

A systemic disease, seen more commonly in women which affects connective tissue, particularly the synovial tissue within joints. Arthritis is the main clinical feature and involves many joints in the body, especially those of the hand and feet.

No systemic disease is present and lifespan is normal.
Genetics
Based on the single family reported and the pattern of mutations seen in the DNA, this seems to be an autosomal recessive disorder.
