Tricuspid regurgitation may not cause any symptoms if the patient does not have pulmonary hypertension. If pulmonary hypertension and moderate-to-severe tricuspid regurgitation exist together, the following symptoms may result: ...

Tricuspid regurgitation occurs when the tricuspid valve within the heart fails to close tightly. This causes blood to flow backward.
What is going on in the body?

Tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is usually secondary to right ventricular dilatation as in pulmonary vascular disease. Primary TR is less common and usually caused by rheumatic heart disease or infective endocarditis (heart valve infection).

Tricuspid Regurgitation
(Leaking Tricuspid valve)
Often associated with severe long - standing lung disorder (such as emphysema),
Enlarged right atrium.

This condition often causes the valve between the upper and lower chambers on the right side of your heart to leak (tricuspid regurgitation), allowing blood to flow backward.

This may be caused by chronic right-sided heart failure (cor pulmonale) and tricuspid regurgitation, as well as obstructing lesions of the hepatic veins and inferior vena cava.

Regurgitant murmurs represent retrograde or abnormal flow (eg, due to mitral regurgitation, tricuspid regurgitation, or ventricular septal defects) into chambers that are at lower resistance.

Systolic murmurs are divided into ejection murmurs (due to blood flow through a narrowed vessel or irregular valve) and regurgitant murmurs (due to mitral or tricuspid regurgitation where the blood leaks back into the atria from the ventricles).

Tricuspid stenosis-narrowing of the tricuspid valve
Tricuspid regurgitation-backflow of blood into the atrium from the ventricle due to improper closing of the tricuspid valve flaps

As the leak worsens, the heart has to work harder to make up for the leaky valve, and less blood may flow to the rest of the body. Depending on which valve is affected, the conditioned is called tricuspid regurgitation, pulmonary regurgitation, ...
