Tricuspid stenosis

Disease Tricuspid regurgitationTricuspid Valve Atresia

Tricuspid Stenosis
(Tight Tricuspid Valve)
Increased resistance of blood flow from right atrium to right ventricle.

Tricuspid stenosis-narrowing of the tricuspid valve
Tricuspid regurgitation-backflow of blood into the atrium from the ventricle due to improper closing of the tricuspid valve flaps
Anatomy of the Heart ...

Tricuspid stenosis
Increased blood flow across nonstenotic tricuspid valve (tricuspid regurgitation, atrial septal defect, anomalous pulmonary venous return)
Left or right atrial tumors, atrial ball-valve thrombi ...

All four valves can be stenotic (hardened, restricting blood flow); the conditions are called tricuspid stenosis, pulmonic stenosis, mitral stenosis or aortic stenosis.
Valvular insufficiency.

Tricuspid valvotomy to repair tricuspid stenosis is generally performed at the same time as mitral valvotomy, and is rarely performed as a separate procedure.

For example, tricuspid stenosis or atresia , pulmonary valvular or infundibular stenosis , and/or elevated pulmonary vascular resistance .

Combined mitral stenosis and regurgitation.
Tricuspid stenosis.
Tricuspid regurgitation.
Combined tricuspid stenosis and regurgitation.
Pulmonic stenosis.
Pulmonic regurgitation.
Combined pulmonic stenosis and regurgitation.

Predisposing Factors
Tricuspid stenosis (TS) is usually due to rheumatic fever and is usually seen in association with left heart valve disease. TS is also sometimes associated with carcinoid syndrome.

Heart -- may reveal a middiastolic or presystolic murmur (resembles the murmur of mitral or tricuspid stenosis). The heart rhythm may be irregular.
Lung exam may show crackles (left sided myxoma only).

About 75% of myxomas occur in the left atrium of the heart, usually beginning in the wall that divides the two upper chambers of the heart. The rest are in the right atrium. Right atrial myxomas are sometimes associated with tricuspid stenosis and ...

This can lead to heart failure and other symptoms (see below). All four valves can be stenotic (hardened, restricting blood flow); the conditions are called tricuspid stenosis, pulmonic stenosis, mitral stenosis or aortic stenosis.

Mitral stenosis
Pulmonary regurgitation (backflow of blood into the right ventricle, caused by failure of the pulmonary valve to close completely)
Pulmonary stenosis
