This is trisomy 18 syndrome. There are three instead of the normal two chromosomes 18. Children with this condition have multiple malformations and mental retardation due to the extra chromosome 18.

Edwards syndrome: Trisomy 18 syndrome. Children with the syndrome have an extra chromosome 18 with a characteristic pattern of multiple malformations and mental retardation.

For this reason, it is also called trisomy 18 syndrome. The extra chromosome is lethal for most babies born with this condition.
