Unstable angina is a condition in which your heart doesn't get enough blood flow and oxygen. It is a prelude to a heart attack. Most people experience a feeling of chest discomfort or shortness of breath.

Angina Pectoris and unstable Angina is a condition of the coronary arteries - the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle.

Unstable angina is chest discomfort that is not expected and may occur at rest. Unstable angina may be more painful, and last longer than the pain of stable angina. Some people get unstable angina without ever having stable angina.

Unstable angina is now usually classified with non-Q myocardial infarction as acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in professional discussions of treatments. ACS usually requires more aggressive treatments, including surgery.
