Definition
Excessive urination at night is a condition in which you wake up several times during the night to urinate. Waking up several times a night to urinate is called nocturia.

What are urination problems?
Urine carries waste from the kidneys. It is stored in the bladder until passed from the body through a tube called the urethra when you urinate.

Painful urination can range from mild discomfort or a burning sensation in the urinary tract to severe, intense pain. This pain may be acute, when it occurs suddenly, or chronic, when the pain lasts for a long period of time.

Frequent urination in adults is the result of numerous conditions. For example, pressure of a fetus on the bladder of a pregnant woman will cause her to feel like she may constantly need to go to the bathroom.

Frequent Urination Overview
Most people typically urinate four to eight times a day. Needing to go more than eight times a day or waking up in the night to go to the bathroom more than once in the night is considered frequent urination.

Decreased urination is often caused by dehydration. But sometimes it may indicate a more serious disease.
What is going on in the body?

Painful urination and/or intercourse are common. Abnormal vaginal discharge is not always present and may be minimal. The discharge is typically described as cottage-cheese-like in nature, although it may vary from watery to thick in consistency.

Urination, or voiding, is a complex activity. The bladder is a balloon-like organ that lies in the lowest part of the abdomen. The bladder stores urine, then releases it through the urethra, the canal that carries urine to the outside of the body.

Urination or having a bowel movement without knowing it.
Vomiting (throwing up).
Fussiness, confusion, or sleepiness after the seizure.

Urination causes pain or burning.
