WHAT IT IS"A tincture is an extract made from herbs by soaking them in alcohol. (Only grain alcohol should be used for internal use; wood alcohol, such as rubbing alcohol, will cause blindness.) The resultant mixture does not spoil.

It is a mixture of 40% aspartic acid, 50% phenylalanine, and 10% methanol (also known as wood alcohol -- poison!) Although there are no publicized studies to substantiate the risks of aspartame, there are many who suffer from adverse reactions.

Alcohol poisoning can also occur by drinking household products that contain ethyl alcohol (ethanol), or by ingesting isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol) or methyl alcohol (methanol; sometimes commonly referred to as wood alcohol).
