The American Hairless Terrier was first discovered and developed by Willie and Edwin Scott. They had a litter of Rat Terriers wherein one female was completely hairless. This hairless Rat Terrier became their prized pet.

American Hairless Terriers are identical in appearance to the medium-sized Rat Terriers they are descendant from. Their small bodies are well-muscled and feature a deep chest, a strong neck, and long, springy limbs.

The American Hairless Terrier is an alert, loving, energetic, happy, playful, loyal, and cuddly dog. He loves to warm himself in your lap, or snuggle with you under the blankets.

The American Hairless Terrier is a fairly recent breed that it was only establish as an independent breed - apart from the Rat Terrier, from whom they descent - in 1988 as far the AHTA/AHTC is concerned. But it was only in 2004 that the U.K.C.

In 1972, the first hairless Rat Terrier was born and from that little hairless female a new strain of Rat Terrier was developed. The hairless Rat Terrier is now known as the American Hairless Terrier.

Finally, there is a hairless strain called an American Hairless Terrier.

I have more than 3 favorite.. besides the Crested, I also like the Xoloitzcuintle, Peruvian Inca Orchid, Hairless Khala and American Hairless Terrier.

In the 1970s, a hairless mutation appeared in a single Rat Terrier bitch, and was propagated into a strain of the Rat Terrier. After a period of development by crossing to coated dogs, the UKC recognized the American Hairless Terrier as a separate ...

Whether of the smooth-coated or hairless variety, which the UKC calls the American Hairless Terrier, the Rat Terrier requires little grooming.
