Description: A French Breed, the Ariegeois is usually not seen outside of France. Used for hunting of rabbit, hare and fox. The Ariegeois has a narrow head with a slightly convex noise ridge, and long low set ears with a noble expression.

Ariegeois Description This comparative newcomer to the world of hounds originated in 1912. Ariege province, for which the breed is named, is in the very south of France on the Spanish border, midway between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

Ariegeois will weigh as much as 66 pounds and grow to a height in between 22 and 24 inches. Males are always heavier than females.
