The breed originated in 1912 in France and is relatively unknown outside of that region. The Ariegeois are used as pack-hunting scent hounds but are distinguished as friendly and loving companions as well.

Ariegeois
Yet another French hound, the Ariegeois traces its origin to Ariège, a region in France. It was developed in 1912, which makes its origin fairly recent.
