(Boston Bull, Boston Bull Terrier) The Boston Terrier is a compact, stout, well-muscled mastiff breed. Their distinctive face features a short, broad muzzle and a pair of large, round, far-set eyes that are dark in color.

In 1889, about 30 owners of Boston Bull Terriers formed the American Bull Terrier Club, and they called them Round Heads or Bull Terriers. Bull Terrier and Bulldog fanciers objected to the name.

This breed, firstly introduced as Round Head Terrier and then Boston Bull Terrier, was later officially named after its birthplace, Boston. It is considered the national dog of the country despite its Bulldog ancestry.
