The Canaan Dog is a recent breed developed from ancient Middle Eastern Pariah Dog stock. It is one of the Spitz family and is regarded as the national dog of Israel.

The Canaan Dog is medium sized and proportioned right. The mind is wedge-shaped using a flat, but defined stop. The muzzle is identical to or slightly longer than the skull, tapering to some point.
