Cheeks: The region of the skin that lies below the eyes and begins at the lips, reaching back to the area in front of the ears.
Cheeky: Cheeks prominently rounded; thick, protruding.
Cherry Eye: Prolapsed gland of the third eyelid.

Cheeks: Normally developed.
Eyes: Alert and intelligent expression. The eyes must be of average dimensions, slightly almond shaped, neither deep-set nor prominent, normally and regularly placed, i.e. neither too close together nor too wide apart.

Cheeks: Only moderately developed.

It is short, broad, deep, rectangular and muscular with nicely filled cheeks. The component in between the eye should be nicely filled. The best using the mind is broad and flat, with prominent muscle development.

The ears should be medium-sized, triangular, high-set and pendulous being carried close to the cheeks. There should be a perfect scissor bite, with full dentition.

The said breed is known for its muscular black body, marked with tan patches on the eyebrows, cheeks, muzzle, legs and even the underside of the tail. It has a broad head and a rounded forehead.

Native to Switzerland the Bernese Mountain Dog is a large dog with a predominantly jet-black coat. Its cheeks, legs and eye areas are a russet color, the feet, tail tip, and chest are white.

Rust appears over each eye, on the cheeks reaching to at least the corner of the mouth, on each side of the chest, on all four legs, and under the tail. There is a white blaze and muzzle band.
