The Chin has a broad head, a short broad muzzle and round forehead. Almost all features on their face are wide-set - their dark, protruding eyes, small V-shaped ears and small nose. Most Chin’s have a small under bite.
The Chin has a beautiful coat that doesn't get tangled too easily. The long silky coat should be brushed and combed about twice per week and daily when shedding.
The Chin's coat needs more than average brushing or combing to maintain its appearance. They are year round shedders. Without fiber in the diet, they may need to have their anal glands expressed bimonthly.

The origin of the Chin is somewhat of a mystery. It is believed to be native to Korea, then imported to Japan, where it achieved great popularity. The Japanese deliberately bred the spaniel to be tiny, and were sometimes kept in bird cages.
Tribal lore: At least five hair warts should be on the face -- two on each cheek and one or more on the chin. However, two or three on the chin is most desirable.
Pigment
Pigment of the nose is black to liver.
