The Clumber Spaniel is the heaviest breed of Spaniel. The breed was developed in France by a duke of Noailles in the year 1768.
The Clumber Spaniel is one of the original nine breeds registered by the American Kennel Club. Long and low, it’s not as fast as other sporting dogs, but will work all day, trotting along in a slow, rolling gait.
The Clumber Spaniel was a French breed that was shipped to the duke of Newcastle, England, by one of the dukes of Noailles, because he feared for his dogs´ life due to threat of the French Revolution (1789).
The Clumber Spaniel are one of them British spaniels. A refined dog breed, the clumber spaniel is considered a very gentle and highly intelligent dog.
