The Drever is the re-creation of a type of short-legged dog that was used to drive certain types of game toward the gun. The breed was developed from the Weshpalian Dachsbracke and a variety of other local hound breeds.
don´t overstrain the young Drever who wants to hunt too much. socialize early so dog gets used to environments other than hunting grounds and for it to get along well with other animals.
Definetely, the Alpine Dachsbracke is a breed, closely related to the Swedish Dachsbracke (another name of the breed - Drever), and many authors combine them, believing that this two are closely related.

The Irish wolfhound, Scottish deerhound, basenji, whippet, and Norwegian elkhound are also in this group. In Canada, drevers belong to the Hound group as well, and in England the Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen is included.
