Entlebuch Cattle Dog

Dog EntelbucherEntlebucher

for any considerable time after that date, no variation was produced among Appenzell and Entlebuch Cattle Dogs.

He is the largest (and probably the oldest) of the four Sennenhund Breeds (including the Appenzell Cattle Dog, Entlebuch Cattle Dog, and the AKC-recognized Bernese Mountain Dog).

It is believed that this breed is the oldest and largest of the four Sennenhund breeds which include: the Appenzell Cattle dog, the Entlebuch Cattle dog, and the Bernese mountain dog - all of whom descended from the Roman Mastiff.

The Entlebucher Mountain Dog is also known as the Entlebucher Sennenhund and the Entlebuch Cattle Dog.

The Saint Bernard originated in Switzerland along with several other breeds, including the Bernese Mountain Dog, Entlebuch Cattle Dog, Appenzell Cattle Dog, and Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.

As with all modern Swiss breeds, (including Bernese Mountain Dogs, Great Swiss Mountain Dogs, Entlebuch Cattle Dogs, and Appenzell Cattle Dogs) these dogs were used for a variety of duties including guarding, herding, and drafting.
