The breed is as old as 10,000 years, where it can be found as a sled and hunting dog near the Arctic Circle. The powerfully built Eskimo Dog weighs 60 to 105 pounds and stands 20 to 27 inches tall.

 


Eskimo dogs need firm coat brushing twice a week to prevent matting and tangling. During shedding season, daily brushing is needed. It is a breed with drier skin as compared to other dogs so bathing should be done only when necessary.

Description: The Eskimo Dog is strong and purposeful, it was, and still is, used by the Inuits, or eskimos, as sled dogs.

The Eskimo Dog probably originated in eastern Siberia, and shared common ancestry with the Alaskan Malamute, Siberian Husky, and Samoyed.
