A feist is a type of small dog developed in the rural southern United States for hunting squirrels and other small game.

 


My feist just turned 2 yrs old. He's very energetic and playful but tends to get aggressive and he gets jealous when i give my other dog love or attention.

Feists (also called Mountain Fesists) originated in North America several hundred years ago, probably from crosses between English terriers and American Indian dogs.

Feists are small dogs that hunt small game, especially squirrels, in a similar manner to large hounds hunting raccoons and large game. Feists may hunt in packs, and "bark up" on trees to alert the hunter.

Feisty is the word most often used to describe terriers. From the Latin terra, for earth, most terriers were originally bred to "go to ground" after burrowing vermin, larger rodents and even foxes.

Feisty and full of energy, these dog breeds have been dubbed as having a distinctive 'terrier personality'. The Terrier is a rambunctious and assertive dog. They are quite intelligent and love to play.

Feisty, bold, inquisitive, game, scrappy, stubborn and independent, the Norfolk is all terrier. She has been called a "demon" in the field, and she loves to hunt, dig and investigate. She must be exercised in a safe area.

As feisty and hardy as the Yorkie can be, it is not the ideal choice for young children who may not understand how easily the breed can be injured.

The feisty little Affenpinscher went on to serve as the blueprint for several other toy breeds, including the Brussels Griffon, which would one day usurp the Affenpinscher’s comfortable position as an aristocratic lapdog.

This feisty little dog is full of personality and spunk! A big dog in a little package! The vivacious little Cairn Terrier is an active, hardy, small working terrier. He is free in movement, strong, but not heavily built.

Temperament: Feisty and mischievous, yet cuddly and cute - will snuggle with you and be cute.
With Children: Good with children, but small children need to be monitored with this breed.

Courageous and feisty little dogs who have truly earned the nickname 'The Daredevil'. Affectionate and friendly with people - particularly children - this breed will be loyal and devoted to the family.

The Shiba Inu is feisty with other animals. The Shiba Inu will take off after anything that moves and not come back. The Shiba Inu is an escape artist who will climb chain link fences. The Shiba Inu yodels and screams when upset.

The well-bred Bichon Frisé is feisty, sensitive, playful, and affectionate. A cheerful attitude is a prominent personality trait. Most Bichons enjoy socializing with people and most dogs. They dislike being left alone.

This small and feisty little dog will often live up to 12 years of age, but Chihuahuas can live up to 15 years of age if cared for with the correct nutrition. AVERAGE HEIGHT & WEIGHT

The Scottish Terrier dog breed carries the terrier traits--quick, alert, and feisty--to extremes. Yet on the whole the breed tends to be stable and steady-going. They exude ruggedness and power.

Character: The Miniature Bull Terrier has a very fiery personality and can be very feisty at times. This breed can be protective of his owner and territory giving off a fearless and brave presence.

Jack Russell Terriers are feisty, energetic dogs that gained popularity with the advent of the Wishbone series. However, in real life, these dogs are not exactly like the famous Wishbone.

Traditionally more of a type than a breed they share much ancestry with the tough little mixed breed dogs known as 'feists.

Scotties seem to think they are large dogs and can be quite feisty toward other dogs, no matter how large. The Scottish Terrier does best with older children.
