Origin
The Foxhound originated in Britain and is believed to have evolved from the crossing of local dogs with imported French hounds and the later admixture of Greyhound, Bulldog, and Fox Terrier blood.

Looking back into the history of Treeing Walker Coonhound, we come to know that the dog is a descendant of the English Foxhound, which, as per the records, was imported to Virginia in the year 1742, by Thomas Walker. In the next century i.e.
Appearance: The Harrier is similar to the English Foxhound, but smaller. It is a muscular hunting hound with a short, hard coat. It has large bones for stamina and strength. The Harrier is slightly longer than tall, with a level topline.
From their physical appearance they appear to be a mix of three breeds: the head, sense of smell, and bone of a Bloodhound, the colouring of a Foxhound and the legs of a Dachshund.
This compact scent hound looks like a small English Foxhound. Beagles come in two size varieties. The smaller breed variety is about 10 to 13 inches at shoulder height end weighs approximately 16 to 20 pounds.
Foxhounds that work at hunt clubs and Harriers kept as hunting dogs are not necessarily part of the registered numbers, but they are working dogs not likely to be available to pet owners.
There is, however, a school of thought that it may be of English origin, developed through crossings of Foxhound, Bloodhound, and Greyhound. Early Pointers were hard-headed dogs, unwilling to submit to control.
For example, the beagle, the harrier, and the foxhound all can have brown coats with black saddle markings and white tail tips and all have similar silhouettes.
The breed was then developed from the Virginia Foxhound, bred for its color and superb sense of smell. It originated in the Ozark, Blue Ridge, Appalachian and Smokey Mountains in the southeastern United States.
It is also thought to have had Bloodhounds, Foxhounds, Greyhounds, and Spaniels to thank for its early genetic make-up. Pointers are not as popular as most other dogs in the Sporting Group, but are recognized as a household name.
Its excellent tracking skills were drawn on in breeding other scent hounds, such as the American Foxhound, English Foxhound, Coonhound, and others. Unlike other scent hounds, Bloodhounds are usually silent when trailing.
This dog is much more sociable than its counterpart, the Foxhound, but not quite as extroverted аs the Beagle is. Harrier dogs are excellent with children, amiable, and make outstanding watchdogs.
