Temperament: Havanese are responsive and friendly. They are intelligent, faithful, and devoted to their masters. They will defend their own, but do not make good guard dogs. They do make good watch dogs, however, because they are alert.

"Boris" Bolonka - rare breed cousin to the havanese and maltese (Phoenix) This is Boris and he is a solid black male Russian Bolonka that was born in September 2010. He is registered and comes from champion bloodlines.
A Coton de Tulear or a Havanese might be a couple of breeds to consider. They do have grooming needs beyond the average dog, but they have great personalities.
So if your family is not yet complete, or if you have frequent visitors under the age of eight, it's probably best if you remove the toy breeds from consideration, with the exception of the Pug and the Havanese.
