Icelandic Sheepdog Temperament
Full of energy and alertness, the Icelandic sheepdog is an accomplished herding breed. Its bark helps in herding and driving livestock to their destination, and this breed is also quite good at locating lost sheep.
Colors: Icelandic Sheepdogs can be wheaten, black, wolf grey, "dirty" white, and often have symmetrical white markings, sometimes with a black mask or muzzle.
Coat: Icelandic Sheepdogs' coats are thick, coarse, medium length and stand off.

The Icelandic Sheepdog reportedly came to Iceland together with the Vikings and is probably one of the oldest breeds in the world.
The Icelandic sheepdog likely arrived in Iceland with the Vikings on the raiding ships in the 7th or 8th century AD. Whilst not a native of Iceland, they are certainly are considered Iceland’s only dog breed.
The Icelandic Sheepdog experienced a large nose and black-pigmented lips. The depth of the chest is equal to the length of the foreleg. The expression is gentle, intelligent and happy. A confident and lively bearing is common for this dog.
Its exact origins are not known, but the most-often cited ancestors of the breed include the Border Collie (or its ancestors), the Yakki (also Yakkie or Yakkin) dog (a dog kept and bred by Greenland whalers), and the Icelandic sheepdog.
