IG's often get along with cats so if you already have a cat and you are looking for a suitable dog which won't chase your beloved kitty all day long, IG's can be recommended.

IG's despise the wind, wet and cold and will sometimes refuse to do their "business" outside if it is raining so some recommend having some old newspaper on the floor near the exit.

Our IG is quiet and rarely barks, he loves affection and attention, is small (although not purse-size portable), enjoys toys and his warm bed, is hair free and doesn't smell or shed, ...

Your IG will demand attention if he feels he's being ignored. Privacy becomes a distant memory once you own an Italian Greyhound, because he'll follow you everywhere at all times.

The Italian greyhound, sometimes simply called the IG, is an ancient breed and the smallest of the sight hounds. A dog resembling the modern day IG was found in a 6,000 year old Egyptian tomb.

Description: The Italian Greyhound is sometimes referred to as the "IG". Italian Greyhounds are the smallest of the sighthounds. They are identical to the Greyhound, except for being much smaller and more slender in all proportions.

Despite his small size the IG is a dog and he needs and deserves to know the boundaries of acceptable behaviour. Pampering and indulging him will result in a tiny tyrant. He will be much happier and more relaxed knowing that his owner is in charge.

(Piccolo Levriero Italiano) (IG)The Italian Greyhound is sleek and elegant. This breed looks like a miniature Greyhound; however, there are many differences. A tiny head leads to their long narrow muzzle. Large round eyes cover most of their head.

Description: The Italian Greyhound is sometimes referred to as the "IG" is the smallest of the sighthounds. He is very similar to the Greyhound, but he is much smaller and more slender in all proportions.

While IG's were found in Egyptian tombs, they are attributed to what is now Turkey and Greece.
Pharoah Hounds are Maltese in origin and the breed we know was refined in England in the 20th century.

Italian Greyhound: It would not be wrong if I call the Italian Greyhound (IG) amongst the cutest of dog breeds. They are gentle, loving and intelligent.
