The La Pom is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Pomeranian and the Lhasa Apso.
The Biewer (pronounced Bee-vair) Yorkshire a la Pom Pon originated in Hunsruck, Germany in 1984.
Catherine de Medicis, Catherine I, Maria Theresa Empress of Austria, and La Pompadour, Catherine of Russia, were all owners of Bolognese.
This puppy was especially appealing to the Biewers, and through selective breeding, they were able to produce more of its kind. The puppy was originally called the “Biewer Yorkshire a la Pom Pon'.
