(Little River Duck Dog) (Yarmouth Toller) The Nova Scotia Ducking-Tolling Retriever is an alert and agile looking dog. Small almond-shaped eyes sit deep into their broad square head. Sticking straight out from their face is their rectangular muzzle.

For years, the Little River Duck Dog was known only in the area where he was developed. But in 1945 the Canadian Kennel Club gave the breed recognition, as well as a new name: Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.

Originally known as the Little River Duck Dog in its home of the Little River District of Nova Scotia, the modern Toller got its present name in 1945 when it was admitted to the CKC registry.

Originally known as the Little River Duck Dog or the Yarmouth Toller, the breed later became known as the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. It was recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club in 1915, with 15 Tollers registered that year.
