The Native American Indian Dog is currently being selectively bred to recreate and bring back the original dogs of the Native Americans.

Dedicated and caring, the Native American Indian Dog forms a very strong bond with its family. Watchful and gentle with children, helpful and adaptable with adults, this canine has a very mellow and serene spirit.

Native American Indian Dogs are not watch dogs or guard dogs. They do not have protective instincts and will not defend their owners or family under any circumstances. They have a northern breed personality and can be independent thinkers.

In May 2008 a Native American Indian Dog was eliminated from a residence in Michigan after local authorities suspected it of being a wolf-dog hybrid. The dog was later on returned after exams and analysis have been inconclusive possibly way.
