The Neapolitan Mastiff is content to live in a small household or apartment if it is sufficiently exercised. They are a comparatively inactive breed indoors, and they are satisfied with a small-sized yard.

Temperament: Neapolitan Mastiffs are loyal, protective and are not pugnacious. They will not go out of their way to attack, but will more likely wait on the command of their owner.

The Corso is likely derived from the same root stock as the Neapolitan Mastiff; the historically documented Roman war dog "Canes Pugnaces". The Corso favours agility and speed, where the Neapolitan is known for power and strength.
