Papillon Description
The Papillon, Papillion or Pap is one of the oldest European toy dog breeds. The French word for butterfly was used to describe this lively toy breed with the erect butterfly ears.

The Papillion is extremely obedient and very easily trained breed out of almost every single other breed. It is not as stubborn as other dogs, and loves to learn new tricks. Its mental capacity is pretty large despite its small-sized head.

Description: The Papillion name was derived from the French word meaning 'butterfly' because when the ears stand erect, they resemble the wings of a butterfly. This delicate little companion dog makes an excellent family dog.

Mental stimulation is a must for the vivacious Papillion, as well as daily leash walks and a active obedience training and tasks.

In conjunction with space limitations, you should consider the activity level of the breed you get. An elderly person would be poorly matched with an Irish Setter, while someone active might be disappointed with a Papillion.
