The Pharaoh Hound originated on the islands of Malta where it is known as the Kel tal-Fenek (Rabbit Hound) and is honoured as the National Dog of Malta.

About The Pharaoh Hound
The Pharaoh hound is believed to date back to 4000 BC where it was used to hunt and chase small game. For many years, this breed was considered one of the oldest dog breeds.

Similar in appearance to a Pharaoh Hound, with a sleek body, almond-shaped eyes, large bat-like ears, and a long neck, the Xolo is notable for its dominant trait of hairlessness.

Two other breeds that are similar to the Pharaoh Hound and that apparently descended from the same anscestral lines have developed in other Mediterranean islands.
