The Pharoah Hound is a lean, fast hunter that makes a fine family pet and a good companion for children. It co-exists with other dogs, but may mistake other household pets as treats.
Temperment: Pharoah Hounds are somewhat wary around strangers. They get along well with children. They can be rather dominant around other males. Early training is necessary in order for the Pharoah Hound to learn to live with the family cat.

Pharoah Hounds are Maltese in origin and the breed we know was refined in England in the 20th century. True Desert breeds would be the Saluki, Sloughi, Azawahk, and maybe Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
