Presa Canarios have thick skin and short fur that comes in fawn, brindle (various shades), and black; white is allowed up to 20 percent. No shades of blue are allowed in competition. Males average around 125 pounds and females roughly 105 pounds.

The Perro de Presa Canario is a Molosser type dog from the Canary Islands. This large breed was originally bred as a multi-purpose farm dog, being used as a cattle drover and guard dog.

The Presa Canario, as it is commonly referred to, was developed in the Canary Islands sometime during the 1800s. These dogs worked hard guarding livestock against predators, and they also helped catch and hold livestock.
