Not much is known of the origin of the Rajapalayam, but it is thought that in Southern India they were used in the breeding of the modern Dalmatian and were used during the Carnic Wars to attack the British.

RAJAPALAYAM breed makes a breed of short dense hair. The hair for the breeds has a coarse feel. The breed is by classification a hound dog. Their first breeding took place in India. They are bright white making them unique from other dog breeds.

As a guard dog, the Combai is superior to the Rajapalayam. It has a savage temper; it is very much like the Bull terrier in its temperament. The Combai were used for hunting and keeping watch.
