Sakhalin Husky No votes yet The breed reigns from Japan where they were used as sled dogs but today are rarely seen. The Spitz type breed weighs 66 to 88 pounds and stands 22 to 26 inches tall.
This resulted in the breed losing many of its spitz-like characteristics. Akita were later bred with Hokkaido and Karafuto dogs (also known as the Sakhalin Husky), which were introduced to mainland Japan after the First Sino-Japanese War.
