The Shar Pei is content to live in a small household or apartment if it is sufficiently exercised. They are a comparatively active breed indoors, and they do not require a yard. This breed is sensitive to hot weather.

History: A close relative to the Chow Chow, the Chinese Shar Pei is an ancient breed that has existed for centuries in the southern provinces of China, dating back to the Han Dynasty of 202 B.C - 220 B.C.

Since I do believe that there are some breeds that are more likely to induce allergies (like Shar peis), I guess that it is possible that there is a breed I am unaware of that is less likely than others to induce allergies, too.

Familial Shar Pei Fever (FSF) is a severe congenital disease, the short-lasting fever of up to twenty four hours, mainly due to accumulation of fluid roughly the ankle (called accompanied Swollen Hock Syndrome) is caused.

The Shar Pei, recently recognized as the 134th breed, was rare but it is no longer. Forty years ago, the Akita was recovering in its native Japan and rare in the US; today it is the 37th most popular AKC registered breed.
