The Munsterlander is very family friendly and enjoys children, the large sized Munsterlander stands 23 to 26 inches tall and weighs 50 to 70 pounds; the small Munsterlander stands 19 to 22 inches tall and weighs 35 to 45 pounds.
The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon was bred by a female who was a Griffon of Barbet origins and crossed her with various Small Munsterlanders, Braque Francais and various setters and pointers.
The Small Munsterlander is a more recent breed, derived by crossing the Brittany with the German Long-haired Pointer in the early 20th century.
