The name Fox Terrier, according to sources of Fox Terrier Dog Breed information’s, actually points to two different dog types/breeds namely: the Wire Fox Terrier and the Smooth Fox Terrier that originated in England during the 19th century.

The name Fox Terrier or Foxy refers primarily to two different breeds of dog, the Smooth Fox Terrier and the Wire Fox Terrier, that were independently bred in England in the mid-19th century.

The TFT is a true American breed that was created in the 1930's by crossing Smooth Fox Terriers with various toy dog breeds including Miniature Pinschers, Italian Greyhounds, Chihuahuas and Manchester Terriers.
