The breed is a member of the sight hound family that can be found from Northern Africa to Central Europe. The Taigan is a relatively new breed, so not much is known about them.

Very close to the original type of the Afgan Hound is Banjara (the Indian Sighthound), Kyrgyz Sighthound - Taigan and Central Asian - Tazi.

produced greyhound between Kyrgyzstan, the lower part using the Altai Mountains of Kazakhstan on top of that to the Afghan plains, and never these earlier real greyhound races have been the ranges of Afghan Hounds on top of that to the Kyrgyz Taigan.
