The Kai Ken also go by the names "Kai tora-ken", "Kai Inu", "Tora Inu", "Tora Dog" and the "Tiger Dog". They are well known for its brindled coat, sturdy body and well developed muscles.
This is possibly why they are called the Tiger Dog. Kai Kens are spirited, brave and strong. Due to their strong prey drive, they are not suited well around other, smaller pets.
The Kai Ken is often referred to as the Tiger Dog.
Kishu Inu - This is another Spitz-type dog from the mountains of Kishu that was originally bred to hunt boars. Today's Kishu comes in solid colors, and white dogs are the most common.
