The breed is fairly new, beginning in the 1980s Alaskan Malamutes, Siberian Huskies and German Shepherds were selectively bred to produce a dog that closely resembles a wolf but still has a wonderful temperament.

Utonagan Containment
Utonagan should be kept in a house that has a large yard with plenty of cool, clean water. Like their Siberian Husky ancestors, Utonagan may try to escape if the oppourtunity presents itself.
