Anima / Animus
These are terms that Jung created to describe the opposite-gender self that lives within each of us.
Anima or Animus
To dream of a mythical creature in the dream is a message to review the quality of your lifestyle, if this manifests when the male has neglected a female in some way, shape or form then it shows just that.
Animus: The archetype of masculinity in woman.
Archetype: Primary structural elements of the human psychic. The archetype equals on the psychic plane the biologist's pattern of behavior.
ANIMUS: (CBOW) The masculine aspect of the individual. Uncompromising conviction. Force. The God.

Anima/Animus as Stranger - Carl Jung theorized that in the Self there were female counterparts to the male personality and male counterparts to the female personality. These counterparts are psychic projections that appear to us in dreams.
The Anima/Animus - This is the masculine/feminine side of a person expressed inside a dream. Either gender can experience the symbol of the anima/animus.

The black man in your dream sounds like a combination of the Animus and the Stranger. Certainly his intentions make him dangerous and animalistic. Since you're familiar with Jung, you already know that it's a mistake to outright reject this archetype.
