Say you want a shot of southern comfort, but you don't want the harsh alcohol tastes that comes along with it. You might add a little grenadine to the shot any flavor of your choice or maybe a little pineapple juice to the mixer.
Harsh and vile on the nose, but the sweetness helps compensate on the taste. I don't like cherries, I don't like this strongly cherry-flavoured drink. Okay, however if you like the flavour. 24% alcohol. Used to be labelled "cherry brandy."

I know that this is a shot, but I found it a bit harsh.

First Impression: Spicy grain, no harsh esters or off smells to it. Creamy, almost thick smell to it denoting a good grain body and no off notes.
Just dump in the bottle of Bacardi Limon and then the bottle of Pepsi Twist and your set to get ripped without tasting any harsh Liquor. This is my favorite drink up there with the Incredible Hulk and Tequila Sunrise.

The major difference between red and white wine is the absence of tannin, which gives you that harsh or astringent taste when you have too much of it. That is the reason why white wine is enjoyed chilled.
Color should be a nice turquoise or very light green, taste should be smooth, a bit fruity, yet not harsh. Enjoy!

A word of caution - if the turnips have been hanging out in your fridge for too long, they will develop a harsh flavour.
Grenadine - A non-alcoholic red syrup often used for colouring in cocktails. Also adds a bit of sugar in harsh drinks.
