Juleps
Originally Juleps were conceived to mask the poor alcohol which was being brewed at the time. Today, however, juleps are most preferred by those who enjoy the nuances of alcohol but are bothered by the bitter flavors.
Mint Julep 2 ounce bourbon whiskey 4 whole sprigs mint 2 teaspoon sugar Garnish: Mint sprigs dusted with powdered sugar. Muddle in a cocktail shaker until the sugar is dissolved and the mint is blended in. Add ice, and then shake well.
Julep, a word derived from Persian gulab and Arabic julab, both of which mean rosewater, is a term that refers to a sweet drink that is usually used for medicinal purposes.

2 oz. Bonded Bourbon.

Notes: The official Mint Julep whisky for the Kentucky Derby. An old brand which has had a bit of a recent makeover.
Strain the contents of the shaker into the martini glass with either a Hawthorn Strainer and the Julep Strainer. I prefer a Julep strainer because it's less complicated than a Hawthorn strainer. Both have their merits!
