Mai Tai translates from Tahitian to mean "Out of this World." A fitting description for this cocktail. The Mai Tai came to light in 1944 in Oakland's Trader Vic's.
Note: There are a few different recipes for the Mai Tai with the one consistent being the use of lots of rum.

Man...i love this recipe. I've had it printed out foreva, but I couldn't find it. I remembered everthing but the triple sec...not bad for a mai tai drinker eh?

Mai Tai 1 ounce light rum 1 ounce gold rum 1/2 ounce orange curaçao 1/2 ounce orgeat 1/2 ounce lime juice Garnish: Float of dark rum, and garnish with speared pineapple chunk and cherry. Shake with ice.
