In a tall glass, muddle mint, sugar, and 2 tsp. water.
Fill with crushed ice and add bourbon.

Ingredients for a Mint Julep Cocktail
Anyone who is into horse racing will be familiar with this, the traditional drink of the Kentucky Derby during which some 80,000 juleps are served.
Mint Julep 2 ounce bourbon whiskey 4 whole sprigs mint 2 teaspoon sugar Garnish: Mint sprigs dusted with powdered sugar. Muddle in a cocktail shaker until the sugar is dissolved and the mint is blended in. Add ice, and then shake well.

1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
2 sprigs of Mint (Use tender, young sprigs- last longer and look better)
2 oz. Bonded Bourbon.
Mint Julep Martini
- 2 parts Orange Loquor
- 2 parts Bourbon
- 1/4 oz Vanilla Vodka
- 1/4 oz Peppermint Schnapps
- Garnish: Mint sprigs and Orange Twists
Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish.

Shiso can also be an alternative to mint in the traditional mint julep. Muddle 4 shiso leaves and add 1 ounce (30 milliliters) each of lime juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker.
