Original Old Fashioned recipe ingredients:
2 oz bourbon whiskey,
1 dash bitters,
1 tsp mineral water,
1 tsp sugar ...
Glass type: Old Fashioned
Directions: Put sugar cube in Old Fashioned glass and dissolve with bitters. Add ice, tequila, and a jigger or two of water. Stir well and garnish with the lemon twist.
Pour bitters and water into an old fashioned glass. Add sugar and muddle well with a bar spoon or teaspoon. Add whiskey and stir. Add ice cubes. Twist a lemon peel over the drink and drop into glass. Garnish with an orange slice and cherry.
Mix sugar, bitters and water until dissolved. Pour over ice in a lowball glass and stir in the bourbon. Garnish with a lemon twist. For an Original Old Fashioned, do not use soda to dissolve the sugar, but follow accurately the above recipe.

I've worked behind the bar going on 5 years and here's what I've found regarding the Old Fashioned. Use either bourbon or rye for a straight old fashioned. Definetly NOT scotch of any kind.
Old Fashioned
- 3 oz Blended Whiskey
- 1/2 oz Water
- 3 dashes Bitters
- 1 sugar cube
- Garnish: Cherry
Muddle water, sugar cube and bitters in an old-fashioned glass. Add whiskey, crushed ice and stir.
OLD FASHIONED
Pre dinner ( old fashioned glass )
4.0 cl.Bourbon , Scotch or Rye whiskey
1 sugar cube
2 Dashes Angostura Bitter
1 Splash Soda Water
Place suger cube in old fashioned glass and saturate with bitter, as a dash of soda water.
