Gin 1 1/2 Oz. Triple Sec 1/2 Oz. Orange Juice 1 Oz. Orange Bitters 2 Dashes
Opening Cocktail ...

Opal Nera:
A classic, the original black liquore alla sambuca, Italian, of course. Almost opaque, with a slight purple tinge. Liquid black jelly beans in appearance and flavour. Well-balanced, it's not too overpowering or too sweet. Nice.

1/2 oz Opal Nera® black sambuca
1/2 oz blackberry brandy
1/2 oz amaretto almond liqueur
1 1/2 oz light cream ...

Twist of lemon & citrus vodka cuts the sweetness of the Opal Nera, but still retains the classic licorice flavor from Sambuca. Hence, a Black Licorice Martini that can kill. Entered in OPAL NERA contest 1989 by yours truly.

I would be the first to admit that this would probably have tasted better if I chose the new vanilla vodka that the bar had gotten in but I was already buzzed so it didn't totally register that way. The Opal Nera being called black licorice liqueur ...
