Pat O's has great hurricanes but does anyone know how to make a hurricane like the ones from Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop on Bourbon St? The used light and dark rum but what else? Thanks...

Mixing instructions:
In a warmed, heat-proof mug, add sugar and a little cider that had been heated to the boiling point. Stir until sugar is dissolved and add cinnamon, cloves, lemon peel, and rum.

The Hurricane became popular at Pat O'Briens bar in 1940's New Orleans, apparently debuted at the 1939 World's Fair and was named after the hurricane lamp-shaped glasses the first drinks were served in.

HOT BUTTERED RUM
1 oz. Dark Rum or Spiced Rum
1 oz. Light Rum
Pat of Compound Butter (spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, clove, and brown sugar)
1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
Hot water Also try hot cider ...

Place in a mug.
Fill with boiling water and stir.
Float a pat of butter on top.
