Whenever I'm in New Orleans I've got to go to the Sazerac Bar in the Fairmont Hotel, where the drink was invented, and have a couple. They use Wild Turkey there. This drink is awesome. If you're ever in New Orleans, you've got to try it.

It's a New Orleans specialty with a history of variations. The Sazerac combines Cognac or brandy spiced with bitters and softened with a little simple syrup. Served in an absinthe-rimmed glass, it makes for a an interesting tasting cocktail recipe.

Flaming cocktails contain a small amount of flammable alcohol which is ignited before serving.
One of the oldest known cocktails in the world, the Sazerac, dates from 1850s New Orleans, as many as 70 years prior to Prohibition.
