Activated Carbon
Activated carbon is a material used for water filtration particularly effective in removing organic contaminants.

activated carbon adsorption
the process of pollutants moving out of water and attaching on to activated carbon.

Activated carbon
a solid adsorbent material that is used to remove organic pollutants from liquid or gas streams ...

activated carbon. Adsorptive particles or granules of carbon usually obtained by heating carbon (such as wood). These particles or granules have a high capacity to selectively remove certain trace and soluble materials from water.

Activated Carbon
A highly adsorbent form of carbon used to remove odours and toxic substances from liquid or gaseous emissions. In waste treatment, it is used to remove dissolved organic matter from waste drinking water.

Activated carbon that supports active microbial growth, in order to aid in the degradation of organics that have been absorbed on its surface and in its pores.
Biological oxidation ...

Activated Carbon Filter: Water treatment process to remove taste, odor, some organic compounds, and radon.
Adsorption: retention of a substance by soil particles.
Aerobic: in the presence of or requiring oxygen.

Granular Activated Carbon Treatment- A filtering system often used in small water systems and individual homes to remove organics. Also used by municipal water treatment plantsd.

Granular activated carbon The heating of carbon to encourage active sites to absorb pollutants.

Granular activated carbon (GAC)
A form of crushed and hardened charcoal. GAC has a strong potential to attract and absorb volatile organic compounds from extracted groundwater and gases.

GAC See granular activated carbon adsorption geological log A detailed description of all underground features discovered during the drilling of a well, including types of formations encountered and their physical characteristics.

Water moves vertically through sand which often has a layer of activated carbon or anthracite coal above the sand. The top layer removes organic compounds which could include dangerous disinfection by-products as well as those with taste and odor.

Carbon Canister Vapor Capture - An automotive filter in which activated carbon has been placed so that gas tank fuel vapors, which have accumulated when the vehicle is not running, are trapped in the filter.

Sorbent Canisters: Gas-tight canisters typically filled with activated carbon (charcoal) for collection and transport of vapor samples.

An add-on control device that uses activated carbon to absorb volatile organic compounds from a gas stream. (The VOCs are later recovered from the carbon.)

Carbon Absorber: An add-on control device that uses activated carbon to absorb volatile organic compounds from a gas stream. (The VOCs are later recovered from the carbon.) ...

A treatment system that removes contaminants from ground water or surface water by forcing it through tanks containing activated carbon treated to attract the contaminants.

Removal of a pollutant from air or water by collecting the pollutant on the surface of a solid material; e.g. an advanced method of treating waste in which activated carbon removes organic matter from wastewater.

Examples include wet scrubbers (air), soil washing (soil), granulated activated carbon unit (water), and filtration (air, water).

Adsorber: An emissions control device that removes VOCs from a gas stream as a result of the gas attaching (adsorbing) onto a solid matrix such as activated carbon.
